Aiming Mainly at Cost Performance Ratio: HTC Proto Dual-core New Phone Leaked

Although HTC claims that it will not play the phone sea tactics any more, there are still a number of new phones coming from HTC recently. Besides the top-notch quad-core flagship, another new phone “Proto” from HTC Desire series leaks. According to relevant statement, this phone in development will go downmarket. But it will be equipped with 4.0-inch touch screen and dual-core processor, so that you can take it as the dual-core version of the Desire series.

Target at Low-to-middle-end Market
Although HTC brushed off the low-end handset in the past, some low-end models like HTC Desire C were still introduced. But under the conditions that the market performance is poor and the competition is fierce, such a phone model is insufficient so as to bring more market shares apparently. So right after the debut of HTC Desire V/VC/VT series, HTC is planning to release a new dual-core phone to attract new users.

There is no image information about this phone until now. It is said that the thickness is only 9.3 mm, weighs 114g, and runs on Android 4.0 and with high-end operating interface as HTC One X and HTC One S (Video to HTC One X). New landscape mode is introduced to main interface, and the new UI is also with improved 3D task switching and inform functions.

1GHz Dual-core Processor
As for the mobile hardware configuration, HTC Proto looks more like the dual-core version of HTC New Desire series as a whole. For example, it is equipped with 4.0-inch WVGA resolution touch screen, 4GB ROM storage space, 768MB RAM and supports 32GB memory card expansion.

The specific model of the 1GHz dual-core processor HTC Proto is using is not clear yet, but it is predicted that it may adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8225 processor. The processor was released at the end of last year, targeting at middle-end or low-end smartphone market, with the main characteristics of Adreno 203 graphics processor and 3G modem. And under the latest classification of S4 processor, it is classified as S4 Play series. The biggest advantage of it is that it is compatible with the previous MSM7x27A/7x25A in both hardware and software. Thus, mobile phone manufacturers can easily replace the Snapdragon S1 with dual-core S4 Play.

HTC Proto is also with 5-million-pixel camera, F2.0 lens, 1/4-inch CMOS sensor and LED flash, supports automatic focus and video recording function, etc.. However, the deficiencies are that the recorded video resolution is low and a front-facing camera is absent.

Although this phone is positioned to the middle-low-end market, it strengthens the music entertainment function with Beats Audio technology added, which can present rich and strong bass as well as clear and natural sound quality performance. Other features are also included: WCDMA/HSDPA network, Bluetooth V3.0 technology, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi wireless internet functions and more. In addition, it is with 1650ma battery that performs better in standby life.

The price of the phone remains unclear and it is expected to make a formal release later this year.
